DAAL, Dal(l), n. Sh. forms of Eng. dale, a valley (Sh. 1866 Edm. Gl., dall; 1908 Jak. (1928), dal; 1914 Angus Gl.).
Hence da(a)lamist, mist which gathers in valleys or on low-lying water, gen. appearing at night and disappearing when the sun rises (Sh. 1908 Jak. (1928), dalamist; 1914 Angus Gl., daalamist).
