DANDY, n.1 A fop, a well-dressed man. Now accepted as Eng. but orig. Sc., its first recorded appearance being in the first quot. below. In Sc. also applied to a. woman.Sc. c.1780 Sc. Song in N. and Q. (8th Series) IV. 81:
