1. Scarcity, with high prices.Bnff. 1782 W. Cramond Ch. of Fordyce (1886) 65:
Present darth and threatened famine.

2. Costliness, high price. Cf. Dearth.Abd. 1920 A. Robb MS.:
Ye'll jist get them [masons' aprons] made for fat the mountin's cost me at the choppie and that'll be darth eneuch for peer prentices.

[O.Sc. has darth in the above senses from 1420 (D.O.S.T.). Cf. Dar.]
