DEPOSIT(ATION), n. Sc. law: “a contract, by which a subject, belonging to one person, is intrusted to the gratuitous custody of another, to be redelivered on demand” (Sc. 1890 Bell Dict. Law Scot. 315).Sc. 1754 J. Erskine Princ. Law Scot. iii. i. 10:
