DEVON, n. Also divan. “A small wild plum, or kind of sloe” (Rnf. 1825 Jam.2).Lnk. 1845 Stat. Acc.2 VI. 744:
Several kinds of plums appear to be indigenous. . . . The native varieties of this sort of fruit are, burnets, whitcorns, horsejags, bullets and devons.
