DOCK, n.2 The cock or hammer of a gun.Sc. 1810 Scots Mag. (Nov.) 876:
The shot, instead of going forwards, expelled backwards the dock of the piece, which had a long prong, through his forehead into the brain.
w.Lth. 1752 Abd. Jnl. (14 Jan.):
A Smith at Polkemmit Bridge was heating the Dock of a Gun in the Fire.
