(1) A crop of the same kind as that raised on the same ground the previous year (Sc. 1887 Jam.6); a second crop.
(2) After-crop, the grass that springs up among the stubble after the crop is cut (Ib.); cf. Tail crop.
2. v. To take two successive crops of the same kind from a field, to after-crop (Ib.).Per. 1794 J. Robertson Agric. s.Per. 23:
Tenants were restricted not to eff-crop the infield (i.e. not to take two successive crops of oats), nor to fourth-crop the out-field till baughley.
