EKSBEN, n. [′æks′ben]

1. “The thigh bone of a slaughtered animal” (Sh. 1914 Angus Gl.).

2. “The rump-piece of a cow, given as payment to one who slaughters a cow” (Sh. 1908 Jak. (1928)).

[A corrupt form of Eng. aitchbone, id., with influence from Aix, axe, which it resembles in shape.]
