FLUP, n.1 Also floop-. A stupid, clumsy person (Ags., Cld. 1808 Jam.; Edb. 1910 Scotsman (3 Sept.)). Also used attrib. Cf. Fleep.Ags. 1808 Jam.:
A laidly flup, an aukward booby. . . . It also seems to imply the idea of inactivity.
Edb. 1859 F. W. Bedford G. Heriot's Hospital 346:
We may ask flup Davie.
