FORQUANT, v. To inform, give notice (in advance).Abd. 1871 W. Alexander Johnny Gibb xlv.:
I joost cam' owre . . . to forquant you that we hed resolv't to straucht the mairch.

[Prob. an abbrev. form of fore-acquant, to inform beforehand. The speaker however is trying to be pompous and the word may be a deliberate solecism for Acquant.]
