GALLOGLACH, n. A personal attendant of a Highland chief, the armour-bearer. Gael.w.Sc. 1703 M. Martin Western Islands 104:
Every Chieftain had a bold Armour-Bearer, whose Business was always to attend the Person of his Master Night and Day . . . and this Man was called Galloglach.
