GILBERT, n. Also jilba. A loose-fitting over-garment, an overall; “any ill-shapen piece of dress; as, ‘He hid on a gilbert o' a quyte 'at wid 'a' made ye lauch'” (Bnff. 1866 Gregor D. Bnff. 61–62). [′dʒɪlbərt]Bnff.2 c.1930:
Pit on yir jilba noo, an' nae file yir new frock.
