GNECK, n., v. Also gnack. [gnɛk, gnɑk]

I. n. “A notch, as in a stick” (Mry. 1825 Jam., Mry.1 1925; ne.Sc. 1954).Bch. 1928 per Abd.15:
Ca' a gnack i' the crook.

II. v. To cut notches in (something).Bnff. 1866 Gregor D. Bnff. 67:
The herd-loon gneckit 's club.
Bnff. 1869 W. Knight Auld Yule 121:
A dart o' flint, the wark o' canny fay, Made like a heart, an' gneckit roun' an' roun'.
