GRADUALITY, n. †Sc. usage: a gradual increase. Also phr. by a graduality, gradually, by degrees. Used only by Galt.Ayr. 1826 Galt Lairds vi.:
I may be able, . . . by a graduality, to clear the estate.
Ayr. 1836 Galt in Tait's Mag. (July) 459:
There had been a graduality of respect towards me for some time — I was sensible of that; but really the outcoming of reverence that followed on the death of Mr Marling was just extraordinary.
