GRUNTIE, n. Also grunty.

1. A jocular name for a pig (Abd. 1905 E.D.D. Suppl.; Sh., Ork., Cai., ne.Sc., Ags., Slg., Ayr. 1955), piggy. Used of the smallest pig in a litter (Ayr. 1955).Abd. 1790 A. Shirrefs Poems 290:
But values former friends nae mair, Than grunties in a sty.
Abd. 1801 W. Beattie Parings 35:
Ou! gaen like grunties in a stye!
Cai. 1829 J. Hay Poems 23:
The pork o' twa year grunty.
