GRUTCH, n. A grudge, feeling of resentment. Obs. (exc. dial.) in Eng. since 17th c.Abd. 1875 G. Macdonald Malcolm xxv.:
An' I'm thinkin' she beirs the markis . . . a grutch yet, for passin' sic an offspring upon her.

[O.Sc. has gruch, a complaint, grudge, 1525, from gruch, v., from 1375; O.Fr. groucier, gruchier, gruger, to grumble, grudge. Cf. Grunch.]
