HACKUM-PLACKUM, adv., adj. Also haukum-plaukum, hackim-plackim.

I. adv. Of payment, reward, etc.: equally, in equal shares (Teviotd. 1825 Jam.; Rxb. 1923 Watson W.-B., obsol.).s.Sc. 1847 H. S. Riddell Poems 143:
He'll . . . get her goods and gear and all, And share them with her hackim plackim.

II. adj. Equal in every way (Bwk. 1825 Jam., haukum-plaukum); closely in accord, “hand-in-glove” (‡Rxb. 1923 Watson W.-B.).Sc.(E) 1868 D. M. Ogilvy Willie Wabster 16:
The Missus kent the way to straik him, — And Will and she were haukum plaukum.

[Cf. Eeksie-peeksie and Equal-aqual for similar reduplic. formations. The first element may be a corruption of equal and the second influenced by Plack, a piece of money.]
