HALLET, Hallit, n. A giddy young girl (Ork. 1912 Old-Lore Misc. V. ii. 72, hallit, 1929 Marw., hallet, Ork. 1956). Hence hallety, hallity, giddy, light-headed, romping, hoydenish (Ib.).Ork. 1912 Old-Lore Misc. V. ii. 69:
Shu was no tae ca' hallity, but ae Lammas Market shu was dancin' on da Market Gree [sic] wi' ithers.Ork. 1931 J. Leask Peculiar People 133:
An' t'o sheu waas illhivered dere waas nane o' da hallit aboot 'er.
