HAMELAN(D), n. Sc. equivalents of Eng. homeland, the land where one's home is, one's native land, but also used attrib. = domestic, belonging to home (Lth. 1825 Jam., hamelan). See P.L.D. §32.1.m.Lth. 1786 G. Robertson Har'st Rig (1794) xviii.:
The hamelan' servants take the lead; The cottars next come on wi' speed.
