HELENSBURGH TOFFEE, n.comb. A variety of toffee made from loaf sugar, condensed milk, salt butter, water and vanilla flavouring (Sc. 1929 F. M. McNeill Sc. Kitchen 227; Gall. 1955 Gall. Gazette (8 Oct.) 8). First manufactured commercially and the trade mark patented in 1870 by the firm of M. Eman in Helensburgh.
