HOLLYBACK, n. A local variant form of Eng. halibut. The form holybut is found in Eng.Abd. 1795 Stat. Acc.1 V. 277:
Hollyback, (in this country called turbot) 1s. . . . Turbot, (in this country called the Rodden fleuck) 6d.
Bwk. 1795 Stat. Acc.1 I. 82:
Cod, ling, haddocks, whitings, flounders, hollyback, mackrell, and other kinds of fish.
