HYOG, n. Also hjog, hyoog. Gen. in pl. = the loops of straw of which a basket is made (Sh. 1908 Jak. (1928), hjog, 1913–14 J. M. Hutcheson W.-L., Sh. 1957).
[Ad. Norw. dial. auga, eye, O.N. auga, id., hence loop, hole. The Sc. een is now gen. used for the same thing. See Ee, n., 2. (2) (i).]
