†IN-BOOL, n. In the game of bowling with heavy metal bowls (cf. Hainch, v., 1.): a bowl which has been thrown farther than two successive shots delivered by the opposing side.Mry. 1889 T. L. Mason Rafford 39:
If one side falls a throw behind, and be unable to reach the last throw of the other side, it is called an “inbool,” and is counted as good as two “hails” . . . If no inbools recur during a hail, the side which reaches it first is the winner.
