INSPECTOR, n. Sc. Mining usage: a man in charge of a section of a seam who attends to the ventilation and air conditions, the propping of the workings, etc. (Sc. 1927 Dict. Occupational Terms (H.M.S.O.) 7). Gen. called a deputy or fireman.
