INTERPELL, v. Sc. Law: to prohibit, prevent (Sc. 1825 Jam.).Sc. 1714 Rec. Conv. Burghs (1885) 120:
He was interpelled from uplifting the several quotas of the unfree trade.
Peb. 1753 Caled. Mercury (1 Oct.):
The Town of Peebles [was] interpelled from holding any Fair that Day.
Sc. 1856 Act. 19 & 20 Vict. c. 91 § 1:
An Arrestment executed to attach the Effects of a Debtor, as in the Hands of a Person out of Scotland, shall not be held to have interpelled such Person from paying to the original Creditor.

Hence interpellation, prevention, hindrance.Sc. 1814 Act 54 Geo. III. c.137 rubric:
