JOWP, n. A contemptuous term for the head or skull (Cai. 1909 County of Cai. (Horne) 76). Deriv. jupsie, “big-headed, dull and having a slothful appearance” (Ork. 1808 Jam., Add.; Sh. 1866 Edm. Gl.; Ork. 1959).
[Prob. the same word as Chupp, both forms being palatalised variants, with extensions of meaning, from Norw. topp, tupp, top, summit, point, tip.]
