JUDICIO SISTI, adj.phr. Sc. Law, of security: involving an undertaking that a debtor will appear in court to answer a claim (Sc. 1946 A. D. Gibb Legal Terms 47). [dʒu′dɪʃə ′sɪsti]Sc. 1754 Erskine Principles iii. iii. § 28:
In all maritime causes, where the parties are frequently foreigners, the defender must give caution judicio sisti et judicatum solvi.
Sc. 1781 Scots Mag. (Feb.) 107:
They therefore applied for, and obtained a suspension, upon finding caution judicio sisti, under a penalty of 100 l. Sterling each.
Sc. 1818 Scott Rob Roy xxii.:
If you can find caution judicio sisti, that is, that ye winna flee the country, but appear and relieve your caution when ca'd for in our legal courts.
