KNIP, n.2 [knɪp]
1. A group or bunch, as of things strung together by one end (Cai. 1907 County of Cai. (Horne) 77, Cai. 1960). Also dims. knippach, -ek, a small-sized bunch or bundle (Sh. 1908 Jak. (1928)), “two or three fish tied together” (Sh. 1866 Edm. Gl., Sh. 1960).Cai.7 1943:
He cam hom' fae 'e rocks wi' a knip o' sellags.
2. The cluster of stars called the Pleiades or Seven Sisters (Cai.7 1900–60).
