KRUBBIK, n. Also krobbek. [′krʌbɪk, ′krɔ-]
1. A wooden box for holding limpets or other bait (Sh. 1908 Jak. (1928), Sh. 1960).
2. A small “pick” or hammer for striking limpets off rocks (Ork. 1929 Marw.).
[Dim. form from Norw., O.N. krubba, a crib, a box for holding fodder. 2. is prob. an abbrev. form of a comb. such as krubbik-hammer.]
