KYAKER, n. A nickname for an inhabitant of New Pitsligo in Aberdeenshire, from the local name of the place, Kyaak. [′kjɑ:kər]Abd. 1956 Abd. Press & Jnl. (3 May):
All strength to Mr MacDonald in his efforts to make New Pitsligo what it formerly was — a village future “Kyakers” will be proud of.

[Kyaak is a phonetic representation of the local pronunciation of the place-name Cavoch, the orig. site of the village.]
