LALDIE, n. Also laldy and reduplic. form laldy-daldy. A thrashing, punishment, a drubbing, gen. in phrs. to get or gie laldie (m. and s.Sc. 1960); also of pain. Also fig. of any vigorous or energetic action.Ayr. 1889 H. Johnston Glenbuckie 226:
