LAME, v. Also lem (Jak.). To tease wool, to prepare it for spinning by straightening and drawing it out repeatedly (Sh. 1866 Edm. Gl., 1908 Jak. (1928)).Sh. 1914 Angus Gl.:
The hairs of wool are apt to be cut by carding, but not by lemming, so that wool for the finer sort of work is lemmed.
