1. A gap in a fence, a gate opening (Cai. 1902 E.D.D., Cai. 1961).

2. A check or notch in the under-side of the upper millstone into which the Sile is fitted to transmit the motion from the wheel of a water-mill (Sh. 1910 Old-Lore Misc. III. I. 9–10).

3. In a sheep's fleece: the gap between the old fleece and the new where the shears cut during clipping (Ork. 1929 Marw., Ork. 1961).
