LOBAN, n. Also lopan; lupin.

1. A wicker cart (Ags. 1919), esp. a cart with wicker sides used for carrying peats; ‡a pannier (Abd. 1961).Inv. 1895 Sc. Home Industries 50:
The lupin, or basket, was in form of an inverted cone, dropped into a frame with shafts to yoke the horse in; in rough ground the shafts were extended to form sliders behind, but on the roads solid wheels were fixed on axles, and took the place of sliders.

2. A wooden tripod used to ventilate a hay- or corn-stack (Per.4 1961).
