LOGG-WATER, n. comb. Lukewarm water (Gall. 1824 MacTaggart Gallov. Encycl. 319).
[Orig. doubtful. In n.Eng. dial. log water means still water, a quiet or sluggish part of a stream, logged water, stagnant water, i.e. motionless like a log, and MacTaggart may have mistaken the exact meaning of the word, confusing it with *loke, the Gall. pronunciation of luke(warm).]You may wish to vary the format shown below depending on the citation style used.
