MAUDIN, -LIN. Only in combs. (1) maudlin hood, a sort of cowl or woollen hood buttoned or hooked to a larger cape, which “is frequently worn detached either as a protection to the bonnet or to the uncovered head” (Sc. 1903 E.D.D.); (2) maudin-naipkin, a small shoulder-shawl (Rxb. 1923 Watson W.-B.).
