MOINBU, n. Also moinboo. A special invitation to attend a funeral.Sh. 1866 Edm. Gl.:
Moinbu, an invitation to a funeral transmitted as the fiery cross was of old.
Sh. 1908 Old-Lore Misc. I. vii. 273:
No person outside the leek would attend without a special invitation, which was called the "moinboo."

[The second element is Norw. dial. bo(d), O.N. boð, an invitation; the first is doubtful, phs. Norw. munn, mouth, sc. by word of mouth.]
