MYTIE, n. The stormy petrel, Thalassidroma pelagica. See also mootie s.v. Moot, n.2Sh. 1808 Scots Mag. (Sept.) 725:
The Stormy Petrel . . . breeds in Fair Ile, Foulah, and some of the other northern islands; and is there known by the various appellations of Alamouty, Mytie; and Spensy.
