†ORKIE, n. A small Dutch coin, worth two Doits, which circulated in Scotland and England about the turn of the 17th c.Gall. 1707 Session Bk. Penninghame (1933) I. 207:
Of the last quarters collections there are 16s. 6d. of doyts and 12s. 2d. of orkies.Wgt. 1723 Session Bk. Wigtown (1934) 323:
If the currancy of the doits and orkies at Edinburgh should be stopped before May day next then the Session should receive back again from him at that time what he has not disposed of.
