OUT-SEAM, n. Also oot-seam. In shoe-making: an outside seam, in phr. oot-seam awl, an awl for sewing seams from the outside (Bnff. 1866 Gregor D. Bnff. 120; I., ne.Sc., Ags., Per. 1964). Cf. Inseam.ne.Sc. 1881 W. Gregor Folk-Lore 20:
