PILPERT, n., adj.

I. n. A badly-fed, cold-looking child (Abd. 1915 H. Beaton Benachie 196; Mry., Bnff. 1921 T.S.D.C.). Also attrib.Bch. 1929:
Siccan puir pilpert, watery-nibbit bairns.

II. adj. Of a child: spoilt, petted (Abd. 1921 T.S.D.C.).

[Orig. uncertain, phs. due to a confusion of Pilk with Shilpit, Stilpart. In II. the usage may be a mistake for pimpert s.v. Pimper.]
