PING-PONG, n.1 †1. A jewel or ornament fixed by a wire to the front of a woman's cap so that it dances and sparkles with every movement, a variant of Eng. pompom, id. (Edb. 1825 R. Chambers Trad. Edb. II. 59).
2. A very small haddock (e.Sc. 1930 Fishery Board Gl.). Cf. Pinger.
