PIRZIE, adj. Conceited, self-centred, self-assured (Lth. 1825 Jam.). Hence pirzie-like, adv., in a boastful, ostentatious manner, perkily, with assurance.Lth. 1888 D. Carmichael Cosietattle 214:
I like to see you [sparrow] stump and steer Baith pirzie-like and tame.

[Etym. doubtful. ? A variant with extended meaning of Birsie, adj.1 or of Eng. pursy, ostentatiously wealthy, purse-proud.]
