POSE, v.2 To put (a) question(s) to, interrogate, examine orally. Obs. in Eng. in 17th c. Common in Sc. church usage.Sc. 1722 R. Wodrow Corresp. (1843) II. 648:
When posed about faith, they answered in terms of the Confession of Faith and Catechism.
Abd. 1737 W. Alexander Rural Life (1877) 203:
On being "posed" as to its identity by George Watt and his brothers, the ghost . . . "solemnly averred and swore" that "it was a good spirit."
