RAEMIKLE, n. Also remmikal, remikel, -koll; reamicle; rømikoll (Jak.). A round wooden tub used in dairy work for holding cream, newly-churned butter, etc. (Sh. 1908 Jak. (1928)), a pail in gen. (Sh. 1967).Sc. 1877 G. Stewart Fireside Tales 40:
One washing sae, one small tub, and one reamicle.
Sh. 1899 J. Spence Folk-Lore 139:
About the middle of May the wives set their kirns, milk-spans, and raemikles (butter kits) in the well stripe to steep.
