I. v. 1. Of a landlord: to compel a tenant to quit his holding. Gen.Sc. Vbl.n. removing, the ejection of a tenant.Sc. 1715 Morison Decisions 13836:
The Dutchess of Buccleugh having raised a process of removing against Davidson and Others, out of some of her lands.
Sc. 1773 Erskine Institute II. vi. § 51:
The pursuer must be infeft not only before the action of removing be commenced.
Sc. 1838 W. Bell Dict. Law Scot. 848:
The tenant is . . . entitled to continue his possession . . . , until legally removed by the landlord.

2. Of a tenant: to quit a property on being given notice by his landlord at the expiry of a lease. Gen.Sc.Sc. 1756 Acts of Sederunt (1790) 505:
