RENDER, v., n.1 Also Sc. form rander (Sc. 1887 Jam.). Sc. usages, prob. developing from the meaning “to melt down, clarify fat or tallow”.
I. v. 1. To beat or cream butter (Ayr. 1825 Jam.).
2. Of a wound: to discharge pus (Bnff. 1866 Gregor D. Bnff. 143; Sh., ne.Sc., em. Sc.(a), Lnk., Uls. 1968). Vbl.n. renderin, a discharge of pus (Ib.).
II. n. Clarified fat, dripping (Sc. 1887 Jam.; Ork., Ags. 1968).
