SASSENGER, n. Also sas-. Sc. forms of Eng. sausage, now in rather jocular use (Ork., Cai., wm.Sc. 1969). Also in n. and w.Eng. dial.Sc. 1825 Anon. Writer's Clerk III. 124:
An' ye ha'e a sasenger too, an' it's ter'ble guid.
Ags. 1891 Arbroath Guide (10 Jan.) 3:
A butcher's shop window wi' a big platefu' o' sassengers in't.

[A jocular form no doubt based on the analogy of passage and passenger.]
