SCLAMMER, n.2, v.3 [′sklɑmər]

I. n. A kind of paste of red or white lead mixed with linseed oil used to pack washers in taps and bolts (Abd. 1969); a layer of thick paint daubed between sheets of iron in shipyards to make the joints watertight (Id.).

II. v. To smear with thick paint, as in the second meaning above (Id.).

[A nasalised variant of Slabber, with extended meaning.]
