SCREMIT, adj. Given by Ellis as “stingy” (cf. Eng. dial. scrimmety, id.), but more prob. an indistinct pronunciation of scrimpit s.v. Scrimp. [′skrɛmɪt]Lth. 1868 Ellis E.E.P. V. 724:
